Easy Guide to Recycling
What goes where? Quick answers. No guesswork.
What Can Be Recycled Curbside
- Plastic bottles, jugs, tubs (caps on)
- Aluminum and steel cans (rinsed)
- Paper and mail (no food stains)
- Flattened cardboard boxes
Tip: Rinse and dry containers before they go in your cart.
What CANNOT Be Recycled Curbside
- Plastic bags, plastic films, and wraps
- Foam containers or packing peanuts
- Food or liquids
- Cords, hoses, and wires (“tanglers”)
- Diapers or pet waste
- Clothing or shoes
- Electronic Waste
- Batteries
Let’s Do It For Them
Everything you put in your recycling cart is handled by local workers. When you put the wrong items like plastic bags, cords, hoses, batteries, or electronic waste in your cart, the machines get jammed and fires can start. Recycling incorrectly puts workers at risk for injuries, makes their workday longer, and takes time away from their families.
Every material you recycle right supports jobs, protects workers, and keeps our economy moving.
